Happy Diwali!

Sri Rama & Sita Devi, Vaduvoor, Tamil Nadu

A very Happy Diwali to all the readers of this blog…Today all over India (and the world), devotees light lamps in remembrance of Lord Ramachandra’s return to Ayodhya from exile. After unbearable separation from their Lord, the very life of the residents of Ayodhya returned once more. Although this is the most well-known reason for Diwali, this festival has ties to Lord Krsna also…

Sri Krsna, Triplicane, Tamil Nadu

Today is also the day when Sri Krsna’s Damodara lila took place. Indians worship Kali on this day (amavasya is sacred to the goddess), and devotees worship Lord Ramachandra, and Lord Damodara. New clothes are worn, sweets eaten, gifts exchanged, and fire crackers set off to mark the celebration. People visit friends, and family members to wish them good fortune. Lamps brighten the night sky, as light wards of darkness, and auspiciousness wards off inauspiciousness…

An update on Srila Jayapataka Swami. He is finding the tubes very uncomfortable, and so the doctors are in the process of taking him off the ventilator. He signalled to a devotee to give him his (the devotee’s) clicker, so he could mentally chant the Mahamantra. Devotees around the world are chanting the Nrisimha Kavacha on his behalf. Atmananda prabhu is in charge of tallying the count of the number of kavachas recited. If you would like, submit your counts to Atmanananda prabhu at: masterworks2@hotmail.com . Please continue to pray to Lord Krsna on Srila Jayapataka Swami’s behalf.
