“I bow down to the Supreme Lord, Who ever shines in Gokula. He is compact sentience, eternity, and bliss, in constitution. His earrings were dancing on His cheeks as He ran from the mortar in fear of mother Yashoda, who eventually caught Him in the chase that followed.”

Lord Krsna’s transcendental form is without equal in all of existance. His form  is full of all opulences, yet brims with sweetness that overwhelms these opulences. For those who are not devoted to Him, He appears fearful. For those for whom He is everything, He appears in as the most enchanting Lord. For the sake of Yashoda devi, Lord Krsna took birth and enacted His childhood pastimes, which attract the minds of even the most adept of yogis.

Dressed with attractive ornaments which represent His various opulences, Lord Krsna ran in fear from His mother. Krsna’s Yogamaya potency covered His omnicience and omnipotence, allowing this most delightful pastime to unfold. The Lord’s pastimes are enacted for His pleasure, and ours too. By remembering these childhood pastimes of Lord Krsna, one becomes attached to the Lord by harnessing the most fundamental of human instincts, to be enchanted by a child. In SB 9.24.61, it is stated that “To show causeless mercy to the devotees who would take birth in the future in this age of Kali, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krishna, acted in such a way that simply by remembering Him one will be freed from all the lamentation and unhappiness of material existence.”

Running, with the tinkling of His ankles bells, the all-powerful Lord was over-powered by His mother, Yashoda. Although externally upset at her son’s antics, and with the ensuing complaints from the residents of Vraja, inwardly, Yashoda’s heart filled with filial pride. Her son, the pride of Vraja, was so smart, intelligent, and irresistable! With His makara-kundalas (shark-shaped earrings) swinging as He fled from Yashoda, both earrings took turns kissing Krsna’s cheeks. Srila Sanatan Goswami comments that of all Krsna’s ornaments, the Gopis envied His earrings, which could kiss His cheeks at will, and in public…

Some good news… Srila Jayapataka Swami is recovering. Reports seem to indicate that he is responsive to commands, and is able to open his eyes, move his hands, as well as understand those around him. He is still intubated, so is unable to speak. The devotees are in the process of acquiring a medication which is still under trial in the US and UK, for helping improve his platelet count. Please continue praying to Lord Damodara for his well-being, especially since amavasya is approaching, which is generally inauspicious…
