Sri Jagannatha deva-stavah

Srila Sanatana Goswami composed the Sri Krsna Lila Stava in glorification of the pastimes of Lord Krsna as enumerated in the first 45 chapters of the 10th canto of the Srimad Bhagavatham. The verses are arranged in the form of obeisances to Lord Krsna, and several obeisances comprise each chapter. Following the 45th chapter, Srila Sanatana Goswami offers a short prayers to Lord Jagannatha, Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the five forms of the Lord’s manifestation, the Arca (deity) form of the Lord,the Srimad Bhagavatham, and finally a humble appeal to the Vaishnava readers of the work. For those who would like to memorize short, easy-to-pronounce verses in sanskrit, that offer heart-felt glorification of the Lord, these are the verses for you!

O Sri Jagannatha, O crest jewel of Nilachala, O Supreme Personality of Godhead, Who appears in the Deity form made of wood, O Blackish Personality, O Purushottama, please be kind unto me!

O Lotus-eyed Lord, O Nectar on the shore of the ocean, O Gutikodara (Jagannatha is so called because a salagrama-shila wrapped in fine silk is kept inside the stomach of His deity), O enjoyer of unlimited pastimes, please protect me!

You bestow nectar from Your lips on Your devotees. King Indradyumna attained Your favor. You are very eager to show affection to Your sister Subhadra. O younger bother of Balarama, I offer my obeisances to You!

You have introduced various festivals such as Your journey to the Gundica temple upon a chariot. O decoration of the chariot of Gundica, You are very affectionate to Your devotees, I bow down unto You!

Your heart is always prepared to display mercy to the fallen, wretched, and sinful people. You constantly exhibit ever newer and newer glories. You are very dear to Sri Krsna Chaitanya. I offer my obeisances unto You!
